Toasted Walnut Butter

Step aside peanuts and almonds; there's a new nut that makes a mean butter!

Ok I"m not serious.  Peanut and almond butter are staple food groups in my diet, but this walnut butter might become a regular in my fridge.  It's creamy, nutty, velvety bliss.  Because walnuts have a higher fat content than both almonds and peanuts, this butter is super smooth and simply melts in your mouth.  If walnuts are your jam than you need to try this butter asap!

Walnut Butter

yield: 8oz walnut butter

3 cups raw walnuts
pinch sea salt, optional

Directions:
Toast the walnuts in a preheated 350 F oven for 10-15 minutes, until fragrant and golden brown.  Add hot walnuts to a food processor and process until a butter forms, scraping down the sides as necessary.  The time will vary depending on your food processor, but it should take about 8 minutes.

  1. What do you eat this with? Would this be like WB&J? Interesting...I bet it would be so awesome with freshly shelled walnuts.

    1. Yes! I put it in smoothies and spread them on muffins. I have been known to eat it with a spoon as well ;P
