Growing up, chocolate milk was a staple in my house. It was the drink of choice after school or after sports. I would have it as dessert after dinner, or in my cereal for breakfast on special occasions. My favorite chocolate milk was always Nesquik; a magical powder that made delicious chocolaty creamy milk instantly!
My taste buds and diet have drastically changed since then and Nesquik is defiantly out, as is cow's milk. So what's a girl to do when a chocolate milk craving hits?! Make homemade chocolate coconut milk of course.
This dreamy drink is both dairy-free and refined sugar-free, yet tastes exactly like the chocolate milk I drank growing up. Sure there is a slight coconut flavor, but that makes it better in my opinion! It doesn't get easier to make as well. Throw shredded coconut, water, dates, cacao, and vanilla in a blender and strain. Viola! Grown-up chocolate milk. You're welcome :)
